SPOT60® WEAR PLATE
Background:
SPOT60® has been utilised by the mining, power generation and mineral sands industries since 2001 for the use in areas of extreme sliding abrasion.
It is manufactured using the unique Implantechnik Servat 3 High Deposition PTA Welding System. Austral Technologies is the only company in the Southern Hemisphere to operate such a welding system.
Applications:
Please see attached document along with the following:
SPOT60® performs best in sliding abrasion applications such as transfer chutes and skirt liners where the drop of material is at a maximum drop height of 3m.
The most economical use of SPOT60® is obtained when it is used in high wear areas only and alongside standard wear plate products such as Chrome Carbide wear plate and Ni-Hard liners.
SPOT60® wear plate can be formed or treated the same as standard Chrome Carbide wear plate. Austral Technologies has developed weld procedures that allow SPOT60® wear plate to be welded to Chrome Carbide wear plate.
Please refer to attached photos of SPOT60® being used in a high wear area only and the remaining area retaining the Chrome Carbide wear plate.
Wear Performance:
The wear performance of 8 on 16 SPOT60® over Chrome Carbide wear plate was shown in a trial on Impact Plate 20E at East Intercourse Island commencing in 2003, where SPOT60® extended the life of the Impact Plate from 9 weeks to an estimated 40 weeks after modifications to the Impact Plate.
At Cape Lambert, SPOT60® is used on Re-Claimer 3 skirt liners which have a life of 3 years and in numerous transfer chutes SPOT60® has taken the number of shut downs from 3 in 12 months to 1 in 14 months.
SPOT60® is currently used in both CD3 and CD4 car dumpers at Dampier.
